plenty of people have been called, some at
4am, around midnight, etc. This random ringing has people worrying about accidents, etc, at these odd hours, with out-of-state area codes. We know no one in Alabama as of now.

Very annoying recorded messages in some (Asian?) language not in English. Impossible to find out the company name or some number to request them to stop calling me, since I don't understand what they're saying.

Illegal robo-call.
This is another illegal telemarketer. The only way to stop these calls is to vote out the Republicans. They keep protecting businesses, including illegal telemarketers. Remember, they were also the ones that fought to allow political robo-calls. From 2000 to 2008, the Bush administration told the FCC not to enforce the TCPA.
Democrats would love to put a stop to these calls but Republicans fight them every step of the way and inserted all the loopholes that now account for the calls.
Robo-call machines and auto-dialers should be outlawed and phone companies should also be held responsible for selling service to these companies.

These are not actual debt collectors -- they are grown adult prank phone callers. Every time we've answered and "pressed 9" -- there's never been a serious conversation at the end of the ringing. This time the female I was speaking with said, "Extra" instead of Hello or anything. I said, "Hello, hello?" She asked if I was calling to lower my rates -- I told her that I was trying to get removed from their list and to let them know that to call my home again will constitute as harassment. The person replied, "I'm sleepy (or sleeping, possibly)." I asked, "WHAT!?" And the lady told me she had taken a sleeping pill and was sleepy and someone just handed her the phone and proceeded to ask random strange questions like if I was her "mommy" and other random weirdness before she hung up. Very strange encounter! Really wish they'd stop calling... they do all the time, but here lately it's been much less often.

Just got a call, the guy said he was doing a survey and asked about whether I had smoke alarms. After some confusion he asked about whether I was the home owner. It did not sound like a professional organization and their was background noise that seemed to me to be many people talking in the same room.

United Blood Services is insane as is the idea that they will stop calling is outrageous if you ask (see Pretty Angel above.) They out source your name and number. These are not volunteers they are paid professionals after a valuable commodity.
Give blood--Yes! (maybe Pretty Angel only gave once) But tell them when you sign-up you won't give if it means reminder calls.

Received informational call about how the government is requiring that utilities help people save money by making their home more energy efficient. The call was a recording and their was no information about the entity making the call. Caller Id shows "Out of Area". Told to press 1 about something and hung up immediately when I pressed 2.

Fist of all, the information listed here is partial and part of it is incorrect. For example the first 866 number is correct, the last number is wrong.
Secondly, we dont cold call. Anyone we call has either called us, or spoken with another respresentative and GAVE THEM specific information about their personal debt and NEEDED help.
We do NOT ask for credit card information, and they do not have to have their credit card payments drafted - they can send in payments if they choose.
Guys, be careful who you bash on the web. You are unnecessarily giving a company that helps thousands of people a bad name unneccesarily.

This strange number came up on my caller ID and the man left a message on my machine. Unfortunately, it was not in English so I have no idea what he said. His accent was Middle Eastern...perhaps India or Pakistan The caller spoke softly, slowly and deliberately...almost pleadingly. The area code came up as (005).

These faxes come at the busiest times at my business. Have called 607-433-4777 to scream "take me off your list", none of the fax numbers listed on the fax or on their website pick up. Just ring & ring. It pisses me off I just wish they were real so I could have them arrested but they don't have an address!! What a waste of MY time and MY fax paper and a loss of my customers when I have to stop and run for the fax machine or miss a phone call because the line is tied up withthis crap!

For the past week, my wife and I have been receiving dozens of calls from this number, which appears to be a telemarketer, operating with a computerized system intended to shuffle the call off to an available sales representative upon answering. The calls are primarily in the evening (Pacific Time) and, obviously originate in New Jersey. We want to find out who these people are and tell them if they do not cease and desist, legal steps will be taken.
