I have received numerous calls from this and another number claiming via a recording to be Penn Credit Corporation, claiming that I owe $50, and in previous calls I would attempt to speak to a real person, but would end up on hold indefinitely. Each time I would wait over an hour before giving up. These calls invariably came during after hours, like Sunday after 8pm. Finally today, after months of this harassment, I received a call from them during a reasonable hour. I hung up and went and got my recorder and called them back. I was so angry after these months of harassment that I could not help raising my voice a little when the idiot on the other side interrupted me as I was telling him plainly: "Stop calling this number" to ask if I was who I am. Obviously he knew my name from the caller id. I repeated the simple command as he hung up on me. I called again, this time threatening prosecution and was immediately transferred to someone claiming to be a manager. As I repeated "Do not call this number again" I heard the woman say "You don't have to repeat yourself, I heard you the first time" to which I replied, "Good, that means you will not call this number again. Good bye." I hung up. If they call me again, they will be sued for harassment. They were plainly and clearly told to stop, and they acknowledged hearing it. I believe this to be a scam anyway, because I do not owe $50 to anyone. They probably stole my name from the public defender's office client list and assumed I might owe $50 since that is the minimum they charge just for a consultation. I advise anyone getting calls from people claiming to be collection agents to deal directly with who they claim you owe money to, and do not deal with these scammers. Do not confirm your name or give them any information as they will just use it to get more information so they can perfect their scam and trick you into paying them.
