Re: ALERT: 855-847-6979 Credit card scam claiming to be Verizon Wireless:
(855) 847-6979 is not a valid number. If you are sure that you got a phone call from a number beginning with this prefix, the caller is trying to obtain your SS# or your wireless account number. If you call the number they will ask to leave your name, and account number. Do not give it to them. I spoke with the Verizon wireless Fraud department and they say it is not a Verizon wireless authorized person. I got a call from them and he stated his name as "Garrett" and said that my payment did not go through, and needed the credit card to stop the discontinue order for my cell phone. Thank goodness I called 611 from my phone directly to Verizon to find out what was going on. The fraud department says whenever you get a phone number, to always call the direct number to any merchant that is listed on the website; this ensures that you never get scammed.

Caller type: Scammer
Caller: Garrett
Company: Cell Phone Company
Number: 855-849-6979
