I got the same call. Here's what I did:

Go to this FTC website:

https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

file a report

Next time you actually speak to someone from this number, ask them to remove your number from their call list. I just did this. The man with an Indian (?) accent said ok. Let's see if it works.
Good luck

Called claiming she was officer Julie Smith with IRS. she said it was an urgent call that I must return. Funny at the end she said do not disregard and for me to take care. SCAM! Saw something similar on our local news. Story about how IRS will always contact by mail. Warned to not engage in conversations with these scammers.

DO NOT PICK UP OR CALL BACK THIS NUMBER. THIS IS A SCAM AND THEY CLAIM TO BE THE IRS. THE IRS DOES NOT COMMUNICATE WITH PEOPLE BY PHONE BUT RATHER BY US MAIL. OUT OF CURIOSITY I CALLED THE NUMBER. THE FIRST TIME IT BEEPED TWICE & DISCONNECTED ME. THE 2ND TIME I CALLED IT WENT INTO AN IDENTIFIED VM AND THE 3RD TIME I CALLED, A MAN WITH AN INDIAN ACCENT ANSWERED & INDICATED THAT HE WAS W/ THE IRS & THAT I OWED MONEY WHICH WAS A LIE. HE WAS READING FROM A SCRIPT AND SPOKE VERY QUICKLY; IT WAS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND HIM. HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT MY ONLY OPTION TO PAY SO TO AVOID ANY LEGAL ACTION WAS TO MAKE A PAYMENT AT A LOCAL GROCERY STORE SUCH AS KROGER. HOWEVER, I WOULD HAVE TO PROVIDE MY CELL PHONE # & HE WOULD HAVE TO STAY ON THE LINE W/ ME WHILE I OBTAINED THE MONEY & WENT TO KROGER. WHEN I ASKED TO SPEAK TO HIS MANAGER, ANOTHER MAN W/ AN INDIAN ACCENT GOT ON THE PHONE. WHEN I STATED THAT I HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS TYPE OF PAYMENT ARRANGEMENT W/ THE IRS, HE HUNG UP.

If you get a call from someone who claims to be with the IRS asking you to pay back taxes, here’s what you should do:
If you owe, or think you might owe federal taxes, hang up and call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you with your payment questions.

If you don’t owe taxes, call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.

You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade

I received a voice mail recording from the IRS, stating that Office Julie Smith needed me to call her back and not it disregard this phone call. I called it and they did answer IRS. They had my maiden name (and I have been married for 14 years). When I told them that was my maiden name, they said it was an error and hung up on me. I called back and went into a voice mail, which DID NOT say the IRS. I believe this was a bogus call and I have saved the information to report it to authorities. I would hate not to and have someone else give out their social security number or other private information... because when the IRS asks you a question and you believe it to be them... you answer. Be careful. I believe this was a scam.

I also received the call today from purported "Officer Julie Smith" of IRS and to return call immediately to avoid any legal action. It is all voice automated. The number that called me was 202-506-9983 from DC, which makes it look authentic.

Called from DC and left threatening message saying I had serious allegations and tax fraud. I would be arrested and needed an attorney. As soon as I said I would contact my local IRS agency they hung up.

I get text voice mails and this came in on a phone that I have never told anyone about (but it's out there....

"Is extremely time sensitive. My officer Julie Smith from Internal Revenue Service and the hotline to my division is 2025069967. I repeat it's 2025069967. Don't disregard this message and do return the call before we take any legal allegation against you. Goodbye and take care."
