In order to protect my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, I sent AACC a letter:

Rion B. Needs, CEO
Asset Acceptance LLC
PO Box 2036
Warren, MI 48090

Mr. Needs:

At 6:53 p.m. EDT on April 15, 2009, one of your call centers (Caller ID: 804-234-9057, AACC) dialed my home phone (xxx-xxx-xxxx) and left a pre-recorded voicemail message for someone whom I don’t even know. To your credit, the message identified your company as a debt collection agency. My research on the Internet indicates that you are the CEO of Asset Acceptance Capital Corp.

You people need to do a better job in skip tracing because you are using very old information. I have had my phone since November 2004. If you do a reverse lookup on the Internet, you would see that the number belongs to me. Do yourself a favor: Do not sell the debt with my phone number because it may come back to haunt you.

I am not the person you are looking for. I have excellent credit, and I do not have any delinquent debts. Thus, you have no business with me. STOP calling my phone. If you persist, you will be violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. In addition, by using an automatic dialer and leaving me a pre-recorded message without my prior consent, you have already violated Title 47, United States Code, Section 227.

Yours truly,
(my name)
