I received a call today 8/18/2014 from a woman with an Indian (INDIA) accent calling to tell me she was from the Legal Affairs division of the US Treasury in Washington DC, and that I was a suspect in a crime. Said I needed to call Officer David Chambers back at the same number she just called from 202-769-5271 within 15 minutes to find out what the charges were all about. I said why do I have to call him back? Why didn't he just call me himself. I asked to be transferred and She said it doesn't work that way and that I was to be quiet and listen to her and her instructions. Told me if I did not call back the officer David Chambers within 15 minutes I would just have to suffer the consequences. She was very rude and abusive in tone.
Needless to say, since I am a disable homebound elderly person, I knew I could not possibly be in any kind of trouble especially with the Treasury Dept., so I hung up and didn't call back.
No police came to my house!! But it did rattle my nerves for a minute or two, which I did not appreciate!

Called me twice yesterday, once on home phone and once on cell phone telling me I was a suspect in a case and I needed to call Officer David Chambers right back. The number given to call was 202-769-5271, which was the same number he called from. I told him to transfer me to Chambers and he wouldn't; said I needed to call him. This morning the same man called 5 times on my home phone within minutes and once on my cell phone. On the calls this morning I could hear numerous callers in the background, both male and female. My caller spoke with an Indian accent.

This lady called both our cell and home phone and talked with a very thick accent saying we needed to call her about a serious matter with the government and if we didn't call she hoped us good luck.

202-769-5271 called and they just left me a message in the thickest accent stating they were calling from the US Treasury. I won't even bother calling back...unless I feel the need to entertain myself later! SCAM!

just received a call from same number telling me a law suit had been filed against me and action would be taken immediately. Like yourself I was CERTAIN it was a scam - he gave his name as Frank Walder id#2023 and said I must call David Chambers at the following number. When I hung up I saw the number was the same on my caller ID. I called 911 and reported the call. I was advised that this is a KNOWN scam and NOT to do anything other than hang up if they call again!

Called 3 times (got disconnected twice ) stating I had filed incomplete, inaccurate, or fraudulent taxes 6 yrs ago. I needed to go to bank, withdraw a large amount, put it on a card while he stayed on the phone, then he would give me the address to send it to. If I failed to do so, a sheriff would be at my door by the end of the day, I would be arrested with no possibility of bail for 30 days while a criminal case was processed. No, I didn't send them a dime.
