This person called me to discuss a friends court summons. I found this suspicious to begin with as my understanding is that court summons come in the mail or are served in person. Below is the information she gave me.
Also my friend has no such debt.

866-741-7914 (Supposedly the Attorney's Contact Number. Turned out to be a bogus debt collector)
This persons name is bogus as far as I can tell. She gave me some story about my friend needing to be in court in 2 hours. That is a load of well you know what I mean. A summons does not work that way. In addition, currently the NY State docket numbers are like this 8494 402789/10 (4 Numbers a space then 6 numbers then / 2 numbers representing the date). You can go online and look for a case too and that came back empty as well.
So she was not from the court system or associated with it. Besides why would NY State use some Telemarketer in Texas.
I discovered through web searches that the "company" calls itself ACS. Then I found the following statement...
The Illinois Attorney General’s office says the bogus debt collectors they’ve heard about use a variety of names, including: Morgan & Associates, Federal Bureau of Investigators, DNR Recovery, DNI Recovery, Legal Accounts Association, Department of Law and Enforcement, CashNet USA, America Legal Services, Quick Cash, and ACS. If you hear from any of those companies, be sure to report them immediately to your state Attorney General’s office and the Federal Trade Commission.
