He called and was very pleasant. He stated that they were a political action committee that worked for the petroleum companies that wanted to drill for oil in the US and they needed names and addresses to put on the petition. He just verified my address and that was it. I didn't originate my address, he already had it. Not sure if this is a scam or not, but I will be monitoring my credit report just in case.
