These things happen or seed in US, not any where in the globe - be it fraud packages or arms deals or funding cocain crops or even consuming them. We always blame others as usual - gives us a nice feeling like watching Rambo movies. We compare one of our strongest persons with a weekest one in outside USA to draw conslusions and prove the point - press will always be with us to encash on our emotions -:). End of the day, we pose as champions. Now coming to the point ...
I got the call from this number. I called back and it asked me to press to not receive such calls. I did and hung up. I did some research and it seems to come from VA area - even though area code belongs to Seattle, WA.

They wanted my credit card number to lower my interest rates, but yet could not provide me with the name of my credit card company. Every time I asked her what company she was from, she replied "Visa/Mastercard". I'll call my credit card companies and ask them if they called me. NEVER just give out your credit card numbers to people who randomly call you...from INDIA.

Pre-recorded message offering to lower my credit card interest rates and instructing me to press 1 to speak to someone. Did so and got someone with poor English (Indian maybe) who claimed they were calling on behalf of Mastercard/Visa. When I asked which credit card they were calling about they listed Bank of America, Citibank, Chase, etc. They said that since I was such a good customer, etc. they could lower my interest rate. The said that I had a credit card balance of over $3000 on which I was paying over 10% interest. When I told them that this was incorrect - that I owed nothing to any credit card company, they hung up. I called back and got a recording that said I could be placed on their do not call list by pressing the number 2.
