Someone from this number has for weeks been calling us almost daily. Usually no one says anything when we answer. Recently I've begun silently answering, saying nothing, and just laying the receiver down until they give up and hang up.
However, twice in the last few days the caller has asked for me by my first name. Today I asked "Who IS this?" and the caller rattled off some name and said she was from something involving cancer. When told that we have no money to donate if that's what she is looking for she mumbled something about not wanting money, and some cancer family from our county. Then she hung up.
Advance, MO, is somewhere around 150 or more miles from here, and we know no one there.
