credit card scam - 02-20-2014

Called to tell me that they can lower the interest rate of my credit card, would not say which card. When I pressed 1 to speak with a representative, I clearly said "put me on your do not call list" and they hung up.

This is one of those "calling in regards to your current credit card account" designed to frighten the pants off anyone who is honest about their credit card...and thus to exploit people who might get strung along rather than hanging up. Especially exploitive of elderly or less sophisticated customers. I sure wish the government had a way to control this exploitive and frightening type of phone call. We have never failed a payment and keep a very low balance, so I know there is never a problem, and yet the tone of the call even frightens me!!!!!
