Do not believe anything these people say. They are not arbitrators, from the county clerk office, or lawyers. They are scamming debt collectors who are trying to collect on phantom debt that is either reached the statute of limitations, or bought your debt for pennies on the dollar. Lawyers and process servers are not going to call you to notify you that you are being taken to court, or to offer payment plans. Process Servers show up with paper work and lawyers summons you to appear in court....and those papers are brought to you by real process servers. Real LEGAL documents are sent certified mail or any type of delivery system that requires a signature. Real LEGITIMATE debt collectors will not threaten you with law suits either, and provide you with the verbage over the phone "I am from a debt collection agency, any information used is to collect on a debt". A legititmate company will provide you with an address, phone number, and validate the debt. These losers transfered me 2x to some jerk who stated that I had some options to work out with them. I told them provide me with proof or don't call me ever again and hung up. Verify if they are licensed to collect debt in your state. If these scumbags contact you and act this way, hang up and contact the FTC. If they leave you messages on voicemails or answering machines, save them. They are not practicing under the FDCPA and you can sue them for harassment too!
