The caller did provide a name that I didn't catch and said she was from the IRS. I then asked her to give me her full name and ID number so I could verify by reaching her directly through the IRS. She then told me she didn't need to validate anything and so I hung up.
The IRS NEVER calls anyone, unless you have first contacted them and left specific instructions to call you back. NEVER divulge any information to someone who cold calls and tells you they are the IRS
