I was also web surfing and got the same message. I called Apple but I'm over the 3 year limit and they wanted to charge me $30! There are two windows that come up in this scam and block you from using Safari. Eventually I figured out that you can defeat it by placing your cursor over the red button on the first window, and then hit your return key. There is a split second where you can close both windows; it might take a few attempts to get it to work. Seems easier than doing all that stuff that Apple advised. It was very scary and I'm probably going to file a complaint at www.ic3.gov about it. I quit Safari and restarted and haven't had any further problems.

My husband was surfing the internet when a pop-up appeared. It stated that a Trojan Horse virus is blocking me from entering this site. I made him stop while I called the number. When Apple didn't answer I hung up. I then called Apple directly. Slimeballs!!! After contacting Apple; had to do a forced quit, clear history, update OS, and more. Thanks APPLE

I also got the Trojan Horse virus and it blocked my computer. I made the mistake of calling the number and letting them walk me through the unblocking. Then they asked for a couple of hundred dollars for their troubles. I finally figured out it was a scam. I didn't give them any information and said I was hanging up and going to Apple with my computer. The guy kept calling me back, "anonymous." I called Apple and hopefully all is well. I cleaned up my computer and will bring it in to the store and have it totally cleaned. He is a scammer - no doubt.
