I have tried to call the number they left on their threatening voicemail for a few weeks and finally got through. The caller stated he was with NCI, and when I asked the type of business he stated they were pre-legal. It turns out the person they were trying to harass was the woman who had my phone number long before I did (and I've had my number for over a year now). I asked them to remove me from their listings.
Their voicemails do not address their company, the purpose of their call, or who they are looking for - the representative acknowledged it is simply an auto-dialer and that it is aggressive because it gave them a better rate of return for people calling in to inquire about the voicemail. They are dealing with old, probably already written-off debts if they are calling phone numbers that haven't belonged to the debtor for over a year.
