Turned out to be a legit Verizon message center that tells you that your acct is past due, then gives payment options including pay in full, or, pay minimum amt which will keep account from being cut off. Another number they use is 888-821-0284 sent via text. Neither number seemed to offer an option to talk to a human, and the 888 number wanted the last 4 digits of SSN to begin!

Why they don't identify themselves thru caller ID, or, have these numbers listed on their web site [or anyplace on the web, google for cryin' out loud) where you can verify it's really Verizon calling is beyond me. That's a PR issue if I ever saw one.
