Exact same thing as anonymous two describes. Caller with heavy Indian accent with the caller id saying Toll Free Call from phone number 888-225-4660. Claiming that there are charges filed against us. SCAM ALERT! The same guy with an Indian accent (WHO CALLED ME 4 MONTHS AGO with a different phone number and said his name was Brian) called me today using the name of JASON SCOTT. The caller ID said TOLL FREE CALL from phone number 888-225-4660. He said police will come and arrest me. He is using terror tactics to get you to pay him money that you do not owe. He told me four months ago that police will come to my house to arrest my husband and me. We have not been arrested and the IRS does not terrorize people over the phone like this guy. SCAM! Don't believe him!

Same story. I am being audited unless I paid some $480 due from prior 3 yr returns. Of course he mentioned a whole set of bad things that would happen to me, including a visit from Homeland Security (are Americans that scared of Homeland Sec?), file legal action, etc, etc.
I love Indian people, their beautiful culture and all, but these guys definitely do have an Indian accent. So his solution? simple: go to a local store called "Save-a-Lot" and buy a 'PayPower' card that has 480bucks. Then call him back. I played along, I said I prefer to use certified bank check.. he says IRS does not take checks.
These guys are nuts but above all, there is a US telecom company that assigns 888 numbers. Why don't they investigate and stop this madness? Should they be legally required to enforce US lawns against these guys? And why is the IRS not using its enforcement power to stop them? Basic things.
