i received 2 of these calls today, about 5 minutes apart. both said that i was not in compliance with federal labor laws and that as soon as i ordered their package of posters i'd be in compliance. i asked the first caller if i looked up her company on the internet would it have ".gov" or ".com" at the end and she said it would have ".gov" and then asked if i was looking right then. (i was not.) when i told them that we had no employees she politely told me thank you and goodbye. the second lady called a few minutes later and i quickly told her we have no employees here, just 2 owners, and she got off the phone with me quickly. i never asked for or was told a price for the posters. i didn't take this call too seriously because i had received one 7 or 8 years ago that was similar, when i worked for my mother, and fortunately i had handed the phone off to my mother who somehow knew it was a scam. (i think the set of posters was under $35.00 back then though!)

ALMOST DUPED AGAIN - 12-28-2011

Almost Duped Again
a few seconds ago
Just got a call from a woman(unidentified) saying that I had to have all the posters, that they, the Federal labor Law Office was contracted through the federal government, that starting in 2012 all businesses, corporations and small, had to have all the posters on the walls or they will be fined, that they will send them all out to me and that it will be shipped to my location. She knew my address but asked for my name and suite because she did not know them. She said she was contacting me to make sure I was in compliance . I asked is her company was part of the federal government and she said Yes, her company is contracted through the federal government to supply the posters. I said I was never contacted before, and she said it must be because of my new address. She asked if I had a new business, I said no, she asked if I had a new phone number, I said no (I recently moved to a new building in the same area so my building number and suite number changed, that was all. She said once I had the posters I would be completely compliant and would not have to update them. Then she said if the posters change, only the changed one needed to be updated. She also told me small businesses would now have the 100% deduction and when I asked what that meant she said there is a bill in the works to get the 100% tax deduction. I said, for what, for the posters? She Said Yes,

At the end of the conversation she said the cost would be $189 and asked for my credit card, debit card or checking account numbers. I said I don't know you and since some just tried to scam me through email for credit card processing I am very leary of giving any financial information. I asked for a phone number to call into and she said that is fine and that she is not offended by the request. (Actually she seems more interested in knowing how the attempted prior scam happened,) She told me I could call 888-242-1185. I called and they answer that they are the federal labor law office and that I was recently contacted because my posters are not in compliance. (Clearly, the woman that called me had no idea if my posters were or were not in compliance.) I hung up.

I looked on the internet and saw the postings below.
