October 28, 2015 this phone number appeared in a pop up, on my fathers computer, with this warning.
"Do not proceed any further, call this number 888-784-7977 immediately, continuing any further may cause data corruption to your computer system."
My father called the number, they asked him a few questions, and then tells him, that it will cost $400. To fix his computer. The caller had a middle eastern accent, and tried to find out how much my dad could afford to fix his computer. He told him it was still under warranty, and that he would take it to the Apple Store. However, not before the scammer tried to get my dad to download a link, they were sending him.
