I agree that in the current economic climate, and with all of the scams taking place, it is highly disturbing when being asked by a stranger for your personal information. The only reason that you would have been asked for this information would be after you claimed not to be the intended party being called.

I'm sure you can understand that many people will do or say anything to get someone off the phone, be it the truth or not.

I can assure you that this information is simply being asked for to verify statements that are being made.

Kept asking for my social security number, told them it's none of their business. Caller said he'll keep on calling until I agree to give him the number. WTF? This is getting serious.
