A woman called and left a message saying that she was from the summons division of some company and was warning me that I had two charges of fraud pending against me in my county. She went on to say that I had to call that number back and address these charges of fraud before being served at "my place of employment or residence" or I would forfeit my legal rights. First off I don't write checks and I don't use credit cards. There is no way there is ANY charges of fraud that can be associated with my name or social security number. Secondly this is not how a summons works and by not calling there is NO way that forfeits any legal rights that you have. You always have the legal right to defend yourself against criminal charges. Always. This is some sort of scam, whether it be a phishing scam or just someone trying to make money off of the misinformed, it doesn't matter. I plan on ignoring calls from this company but there should be some way to stop this. It is just unbelievable that people should be allowed to do this.
