I received a call this morning & spoke to "Becca." She said she could lower my APR on my credit cards, saying that she worked for Credit Services America for Mastercard & Visa. I acted interested, as I do have a few cards with a higher interest rate. She stated that they work with the banks to lower our interest rate, that they needed me to verify my account information in order to process the card information, then transfer me to the rate specialist to finalize the deal. So she asked me to verify the 16 digit CC number and my expiration date. *FLAG!* I am 30 years old lady, not 80. do you really think I'm going to "verify" my credit card number with you?! So she said, "well, your credit card is FDIC regulated & if there are any unauthorized purchases, you can always contact the bank. but in order for anyone to charge your credit card, they would need the 3 digit code on the back of the card, I do not need that." I simply told her that if she already had the information, she could verify it with me. She said they didn't allow her to do that. So i asked her for their website so that I might verify that they were legitimate. She gave me THREE websites, none of them were really valid. I asked her if they normally switched websites, and she said that they had a few. OK, sure, that sounds good....So I asked her if she would transfer me to her "rate specialist" so that I might verify a few things with him about the company. THAT's when I was hung up on. I can't believe these people think that everyone is dumb enough to GIVE them the information that they ask for?! BEWARE people! They think it's easier to scam other people's money than to make their own. And if you GIVE them your credit card number, well you'll be duped.
