Got call from male with thick accent. He knew my name and my husband's name. Said our computer was infected and he could help fix it. Asked me to press the 'windows' icon key as well as the 'r' key. He wanted to give more instructions but I hung up. Does anyone know what this was about. Could he have accessed our computer had I pressed the keys that he was suggestion?

been getting a lot of weird calls the past couple of days. This number is one of them. this number called on 06/21/12 and hung up on me so I called it back. The man who answered the phone said cash advance and I told him I eas not interested and he said to bad I have an application saying you are. I said no I am not looking for a loan and asked them not to call and he said to bad that is your problem and I will continue to call! please help stop there calls.

Pressing the Windows key + 'R' is a shortcut for bringing up the RUN window. This in itself won't give anyone access to your PC however, had you stayed on the phone, more than likely they would have walked you through running a bunch of commands that either would have harmed your pc or given them access.
Microsoft will NEVER initiate a call to you regarding errors on your PC. Scammers are using this ploy to prey on people. Do not ever allow remote access to your pc to anyone you don't know or that you didn't initiate the call to!
