Received an computer voice mail directing me to contact Julie Smith at the Internal Revenue Service immediately or action will be taken. The call back number provided is 202 241 9749. I called and a man named Tray Bell answered and said he was with the Internal Revenue Service IRS Investigations Department but told me to disregard the call when I asked several times whether or not he was with the IRS.

Lady with a thick accent (African, Kenyan maybe) claimed to be with the IRS and told me that I would need her assistance clearing up legal actions that had been made against me because of my taxes. The IRS does not notify people via this method, only via the US Postal Service.

Man with thick Indian accent called twice, identifying himself as "Sam Higgins" on 4/12/14 using the 585-633-1814. He asked for my husband but got our last name wrong. Tried to sound loud and menacing, but sounded like he was reading from a script. Warned us to call him "the very second we received this call" as the issue was "time sensitive." Claimed to be from the IRS and said we had a "tax deficiency." Also warned us: "Do not ignore this call" because if we did, the IRS was going to pursue legal action against my husband. I knew this was fake because the IRS NEVER CALLS PEOPLE. They send letters. Also, a dude who talks with a thick Indian accent and calls himself "Sam Higgins" is already calling attention to himself as a scammer of the first degree. I reported this caller to the do not call registry and ftc.gov. If a man with a thick Indian accent and an American name calls you, I repeat, DO NOT PICK UP THE PHONE. IT IS A SCAM. THE IRS NEVER CALLS PEOPLE; THEY SEND LETTERS.
