Pretty much the same call as others have described. However I also recognized the call as a scam and played along for about 45 minutes. He stayed with the need for me to send $200 in order to send me back the supposed $60 refund. The reason being that their accountants would not allow checks for less than $200.00 (Note: Even though I intentionally mispoke and said that I was to send $2,000 he held to $200. He once said $300 but corrected that statement.) The interesting thing (sparing all the details) is that they were able to determine a relevant name from our telephone number. I claimed that no one by that name was at the number. We also, after much discussion and stalling on my part, got to the point where I was to go to a local big box store and wire the money to them. The scammer actually provided me with the store name and address: based, I think, on the telephone area code and an associated zip code. ( I refused to confirm the telephone number and I know I did not give them a zipcode.) I did get a wire address in Bengal India along with the caller's "name" (John Machew as I understood him.) When he asked when I would wire the money ($200) I told called him out and got cursed out. And he was not even good at that.

Anyway found out I can set up Nomorobo and start blocking out these scam calls. And other unwanted callers as well.
