I received a call at my job from a female who stated she was looking to serve me papers. I wasn't at work so she left a message for me to call Longview Acquisitions (LVA). When I called, they stated that they were going to serve me papers from a payday loan that was in their office for collections. I know I had some payday loans, but have paid them off in full so I asked them what date the loan was supposedly taken. They gave me a date that did not reflect a loan being taken on the bank statement. When I informed them of this, they changed their story. The man I talked to name Dan said no the loan was taken out sometime in 2011, but was charged off in 2012. I informed him that was impossible because I did not have that account in 2011. He did not seem to care. I am not paying them a thing because if I know it's a scam because I have no record at all of owing the company name they provided with nor the date of the supposedly loan. Do not send these people money. Look at your old bank statements and make them give you the company name and exact date of the loan. If you can't find it then how do you owe them anything. Think about it.

In CA the statue of limitation is 4 years. I got a call from a Rick Thompson. I currently live with my in-laws and they called their house. I don't even have my in-laws home number because we don't ever use it. So I am wondering how they would get that number and link it to me.

i received a phone call on 4/11 and started making payments with them then i got a call from an other bill collector for the same thing that is under the BBB so i started looking up longview acquisitions and could not find anything on them till i found this i already tried to contact this company to get who i owe money too information and they would not give it to me they just argued and threatened me on the phone so i have reported them to the BBB and to the website stated at the top of this page they owe $252.00 and i already contacted my bank to investigate it. I'm so glad i found this out when i did i hope this company gets caught and they can serve in jail they got me so aggravated i am going to make sure they get caught cause i am reporting them to every law place i can

Caller has contacted several family members and gave them a claim number. States that "An order has been submitted to my office and I need to verify your home and work address so that documentation can be served. This is you only opportunity to contact the firm before action is taken." I called the company back and was told that I supposedly had an outstanding payday loan from 2010. I have proof it was paid off and yet they claim I stopped payment on it. They never indicated that their call was "an attempt to collect a debt and that information obtained would be used for that purpose." This is total BS. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and FBI. Burn in hell scumbags!

There is no need to call the FBI, nor is this a scam. However, you DO NOT need to work with Longview Acquisitions.
First of all, DO NOT give them any bank, credit card, employment, or additional information about you!
The key is to sound like you are certainly willing to work with them to resolve this issue, so be polite and not combative.
When you do talk to them, you simply do THREE things:
1. Ask for them to mail you a Statement or Written Notice with details about the debt. (What the amount is, who the original creditor is, etc.) Make sure that Longview Acquisitions address will be on that notice or statement. Also ask for the first and last name or at least last initial of who you are speaking to.
2. Let them know that you want to validate the debt FIRST before you provide any additional information or details. Again, be polite during this, and certainly sound like you have the intent to work with them *after* you receive the information.
3. After you receive the information, you need to mail them (notifying them in writing) a Cease and Desist letter stating that you prefer to work with the original creditor regarding this matter.
You can find plenty of sites that have free templates of a Cease and Desist letter. It is also helpful to learn a little more about your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which you will find at:

Whether it is a legitimate debt or erroneous, just follow these steps and then contact the original creditor to work with them to resolve the issue.

Thanks to all who posted here. I just got a call from a private number the girl said she has docs to deliver to me. Gave me the number to Longview Acquisitions. I called it is concerning a payday loan I paid off and they kept taking money out of my account so I out a stop payment for them on my bank account. Now this company is trying to collect for a paid loan. With all your information I will now turn it back on them I am going to meet this girl take poictures with my phone and turn it in to the FBI as you guys have advised. Thank you soooo much. You just calmed my nerves!!!

This dbag called me looking for my wife. When I asked what is was about he wouldn't tell me. He told me he would explain it to her. I told him if you have me as a contact I have every right to know. He told me per law he couldn't because it was a pre-lit thing. That's were he messed up. My wife works for the county court. In order for any debt that goes to trial has to be done in the county in which you live. There is no case in her name. total SCAM.

I have actually been paying them since January! The only reason I found out this is a scam is I tried to call to inquire how much we still owe and both the numbers I had for them are not working now. So I figured I wrote them down wrong or something and looked it up on the internet. There are literally dozens of sites like this reporting them. I feel like such a fool. My girlfriend got a call from a guy a couple of months ago about an old payday loan. He threatened her with going to jail if she didn't pay. Long story short she paid even though she already paid it off years ago like everyone that got scammed. Longview acquisitions does not exist. Just do like we did and look up FBI fraud division and email and internet scams and file the report. They will find them and they are gonna go to prison for a very long time. Once the money goes from one state to another especially if it's thru the mail your gonna get more time then killing someone. All these scammers need to be prosecuted. They prey on everyone whether your rich or poor. It might be mean but bring everyone they scammed into a big stadium and let us all watch a public execution. You might not like my views on that part, it's ok. They need to be stopped and if some fake ass process server ever shows up to my door with some bullshit paperwork like they have other victims before I will make sure him or her I don't discriminate don't get to walk off my private property. I not only got left a message while in a meeting at my work but she keeps calling my cell phone, has called my sister and an ex boss of mine giving them a case number and personal information about my payday loan from 2012. She told my sister she is from the Rio Arriba Magistrate court and needs to be called immediately.She then left a 888-626-3558 number.
