Happened to me today, too! Typed in the wrong website and all of a sudden some robot voice came on telling me that I had a virus and needed to call this number ASAP. Said the same thing about online shopping, too.

I called the number (like an idiot), but smarted up when they asked to remotely access my computer. PLUS, there was a REALLY SUPER SHADY ringtone, too. Didn't sound too reputable.
The lady (with an Indian accent) promised me they were a reputable company (the 3rd most used in the world) used by Mac & Apple. She said that it would cost me $199.00 to fix it.

I said no thanks and she said "why?" I said I didn't know anything about the company and I felt like it was a scam.

I shut down the computer, rebooted it, and all was fine.

This #, 647 360-4458 popped up while I was on a website, basically shutting down my browser until I cleared up my cookies.
I didn't call them back. The pop up stated that they would "have my computer cleared of a virus that would jeopardize my online shopping."
SMELLS LIKE A BIG RAT!
