I received two calls from MCG Legal and they threaten me with an indictment and legal proceedings as well. They said I had written a fraudulent check on an old car loan that I had paid off and the title was released to me 6 years ago...which at that time I sold the car. I checked with the bank that financed my car and they assured me everything was paid off and I didn't owe them any monies. In fact, they told me to ignore them and hang up the telephone because this sounds like a scam. MCG Legal is a fraudulent scammers who are trying to rip people off. Ignore their calls they are rude and don't let them intimidate you to get money from you. I am reporting them to my local authorities.

keep getting calls fromMCG Legal threatening I have 72 hours to pay a debt discharged in chapter7 BK. Stated criminal fraud for credit card. Looking at 1-3 yrs in jail and $5000 fine. Phone number 855-667-4197. Phone search nothing found. They will answer if you call it. Never asked my name or tried to verify address. Demanded$2095.00 would settle for1250. Gave 15 min to pay. Told them I would consult with an attorney they said it would cost me more to retain a criminal lawyer than what I owe. And a criminal lawyer would not be interested. It would be in my best interest to pay.

Caller said there is currently indictment proceedings bearing my name and social security number being filed with a local jurisdiction, and to review the affidavit and eliminate all possible proceedings being filed against you, contact MCG Legal Services immediately today at 1-800-... (didn't get the actual number). Our office has been retained with 24 hours to get ahold of you and notify you of the formal proceedings that are being filed. Caller didn't give his name, and didn't address me by mine.
This was also my work number which i just received 4-5 months ago, if anything was correct it would have been my cell number as that is what is associated with any of my records. Also, it was a very poorly done recording of what seemed to be a deep voiced teenager. Any time you get a recorded message that is suppose to be specific to you, it should address you by name (usually "this is a recorded message for blah blah blah"), speak slowly when talking about the specifics that you need to know, indicate this message will be repeated, and then right after will repeat the message.
I would say a very obvious scam.

We too got a call yesterday from MCG stating we owed them $3700 from an old loan debt that we stopped paying on in 2004. We never had any kind of loan in 2004 and if we did, we're the kind of people that don't miss payments, so we were scrambling trying to think of what in the world it could be. They are threatening to sue us and all that, too, and gave us 72 hours to come up with the payment. I work for an attorney and he has advised me that this is completely illegal and an obvious scam.
