A caller with a thick East Indian accent called and claimed that there is a law suit against me from the US Treasury department. I asked what is this suit involved for? No response and I had informed him, I will contact my lawyer, he hang up.
This is nothing more than a scam.

Got the same message, he said that the US Treasury was taking legal action against me and asked me for my lawyers information.
I hung up, he called back, I told him to piss off.

Called my parents and left a voicemail along these lines: "My name is Dennis Gray trying to reach you regarding the possibility of being indicted by the US Treasury. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid being seen by a magistrate judge or federal jury for a federal criminal offense. Please contact me at 682-582-8087 and help me to help you."
I reported it to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA)but it looks like he changes numbers every few months.

Scam. Called my parents asking for me and I haven't lived there in over 15 years. I called back in the evening and it was an answering service saying it as the US department of the Treasury - too bad the voice had an accent. Beware scams like this.

A person calling themselves Steve Martin has left 3! messages on my machine. He said:
“This is the second attempt to contact you. This is about an Enforcement Action from the Treasury Dept., and that if you do not contact them this will go to a Magistrate or a Grand Jury for a Federal Criminal Offense. I advise you to help us to help you. The contact number is 858-206-4546.”
(“Steve Martin” did not state my name or any other identifying information.)

I reported it (Via a FORM!) at the Treasury Inspector General Administration (http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/ on the internet) as Fraud. Apparently they get so many of these you actually fill out a specific form!
There was other information on their website that said the scammers called a lot during tax season, and that they were VERY AGGRESIVE and would say anything to get you to pay them. They said the Treasury Department would never ask for your identifying information and would never ask for money over the phone, and would always contact you by mail first. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK!
The 1-800 phone number at the Attorney General at (Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force at www.stopfraud.gov .) said they were aware of the Treasury Impersonal Fraud (their mailbox was completely full from other complaints!

I got a all today from one African lady telling me I have free grant money she gave me a number to call saying it was her manager and he asked me to get a money PAC card and load 150 on it and then they will release the money. Lol I kept calling them back acting like I was a different person every time just being an ass acting like I was born yesterday. It was prank calling. But with each call I got more and more info from them and found many holes in their scam. By the way if they give you a number to call trace it online it's free it will give you the area they are calling from. Ask them where they are calling from. Mess with them if you ever get the chance. Add your number to the do not call registry and if someone calls after a month of that. It's not true business.

An aggresive caller pretending to be a government official from US Treasury Dept. Left a v/mail saying we were behind in taxes and urgently needed to call back. He further stated he was about to send out police officers to arrest us unless we settled our outstanding taxes of $5,300. As an "Enforcement Officer" he could reduce them if we immediately paid... Called our Accountant who dismissed this and confirmed he had been called several times by clients about these calls. Called the above number back and challenged the guy. He put the phone down. These scammers are disgusting human beings feeding off stressed and vulnerable people. Also consulted with local police Dept who were aware of this scam.

They have called 3 times today, both recorded messages, it was a male voice sounded like he was from India, he was hard to understand but the first call was a little different then the second two, but the recording said he was with the Us treasury dept. one time and the other 2 times was the Justice Dept. and that I was to go before a grand jury. It was there second attempt to contact me it would be in by best interest to call back. He stated his name Steve Martin gave the number again and said that I could be prosecuted if I didn't call back.
