These are automated phone calls and they are trying to get around the laws by saying nothing; ie: they want you to call them back thinking that will prevent them from coming under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. In other words, they aren't initiating the phone call, you are by calling them back. But they are wrong, they still come under the TCPA law.

I did the *69 thing, got their number and called them back; doesn't matter, they already have the number, but when you tell them to never call you again then the law kicks in, and the fines if they continue to call you.

The company is called VBS, Veteran's Benefits Service, be sure to give them your number, otherwise they will just say that they will do it, but may not if you have call blocking. They already have your number so it won't hurt giving it to them, it will just make it more likely that they will remove your number.

Be sure to tell them that you are on the Federal Do Not Call Registry, and also remind them of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and tell them if they call you again it will be a $1500 fine, paid directly to you.

Then write a letter to your Congressman, keep it short and tell them the company name and the number that has been calling you. That is really the only way to get to these companies, a stronger set of laws to prevent them from harassing us

Everyone needs to fight back against these scammers.
