800-289-1179 is a number used by Walgreens Pharmacy for its new, automated service called "Refill Reminder". This service calls patients 3 days prior to a refill being due and allows the patient to refill directly over the phone. You will be asked to enter your birthdate due to HIPPA privacy requirements. Once you have selected your medications to refill, you will be given a time when it will be ready for pickup (usually the next day).
This service will use the number you provided Walgreens as your home phone number. It makes two attempts to get ahold of you, but will leave a message on the second attempt only. The message will contain an 800 number to call in and order your prescriptions (again requiring validation via birthdate).
