They called and said that they were going to file a lawsuit in federal court for a loan I had with a payday lender. When I asked what company, at first he wouldn't tell me and then he told me Advance America Cash Advance. He asked me to verify information and I told him I was not verifying anything until I receive the documents regarding the lawsuit. He said that he could not provide them to me and I would see them once I was arrested. I told him that that was not legal. I told him that I would have to call the lender to talk to them about it and he told me I had to call back in 30 minutes or he would tell his attorneys to proceed with the lawsuit. I called Advance America and they said that it was a scam and to call the Federal Trade Commission. I called them and reported it. James Brown called me back and I told him that I reported him to the FTC and he wasn't quite sure what to say. He stumbled around and then said "okay then see you in court" and then hung up. If anyone receives a phone call like this, make sure you tell them you are reporting them to the FTC.
