My daughter (a minor) received two calls approximately five hours apart on her cell phone from 844-854-5527 saying the IRS is bringing a law suit against her. They were both recordings, and did not mention her name. Suspicious because she rarely gives out her cell phone number and the IRS has bigger fish to fry than her meager, three-digit income! Plus I think that if the IRS has a legitimate beef with her, they would snail mail something to that effect. I did not call this number to figure out what the scam is. I'm just going to ignore it.

On my home answering machine...Sounded like an automated message saying they were the IRS and were going to file a lawsuit against me. Called them back, and it sounded like a foreign accent with lots of people around him.

They called and their robot was warbally, guess that happens when you are home based in India and the robot is tired -- could only catch patches of what the message was IRS, call back, etc. I knew who was calling as I have them on my answering machine and tape recorder from a few months back -- shame on them.
Called the number back and let whoever do the hello, hello -- and slammed the phone down. I am thinking of getting an OOGA horn for them. You can only call the number back once as they put your phone number on a "don't answer the phone" ... I am totally angry over all these calls (not just this one, the consolidate your credit cards, over due $$ hunters for someone other than yourself, etc.). Our phone services and government allow this. Yep, they could do something about it if they really really wanted to. Sorry, did not mean to write a short story.
