I came home to 8 missed calls !!!! OMG, it must be something REALLY important --- somebody was calling me every 30 minutes. Turns out it is just some BS company trying to sell me virus protection for my "windows computer"

called approx.10 times over last 3 days no one there when i answer finally today 11/24 2014 female with heavy accent stated from windows computer and my computer has been hacked and i have to turn on my computer in order to take care of it when she said again TURN ON YOUR COMPUTER i hung up no calls since then YET

They call me from several different numbers. This is one of them. They are all area code 989. I only answered once and did not speak. I could hear a woman with an Indian accent in the background. There is a long pause between the time you pick up the line and when it actually connects, so I'm sure they are actually in India, not Michigan as the area code suggests. Beware!

These people call me repeatedly. They say they are Windows Support Reps and speak with a very heavy (Indian-esque?) accent. So heavy I thought they were talking about real windows the first time. They say there is a problem with your computer and ask for your IP address. I don't even have a Windows computer so I instantly knew this was a scam. Every time I get one of these I tell them they are scammers, they say no or hang up. The last guy even asked,
How do you know this is a scam?...BECAUSE I don't even have anything Windows! And you guys are fishing for IP addresses! Take me off your list!... Big pause... Then, you don't have Windows?? ... STOP SCAMMING PEOPLE! and I hung up.
Usually they hang up before I get that far.
Don't give these people ANY INFORMATION.

This person(s) hung up three times when I answered with our companies official welcome. Fourth time I recognized the caller ID and just said hello. She stated she was from windows tech support and that the call would be monitored. I stated that I am the IT for my company and we had not registered or reported any problems with our systems and she was misrepresenting her company. She promptly hung up on me. She was preying on any unsuspecting person who answered their phone.Beware!!!!!

When I'm in a bad mood I'll answer and when they tell me to turn on my computer I comply and see how long I can keep them on the line. Say the computer is slow starting up. Then tell them it crashed (that happens . . . I hope you can help me). Still slow starting up. Etc. Etc.
They'll eventually hang up (after cursing me) or I'll just get tired of wasting their time and hang up myself. If they call back I give them the runaround again.
