This number called our business claiming to be Duke Energy and saying we were 4 months behind on payments and if we did not pay then the technicians would promptly be out to turn DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! THIS IS A SCAM!!

They call and say they are the power company (Dominion Virginia Power). They say the power to the business will be cut off unless I send them a money gram for $500 right away. We know it's not Dominion, and our bill is never late as it is a direct debit from our checking account each month. If you call the number, they even answer it Dominion Virginia Power. I'm sure a lot of people fall for this scam, unfortunately.

and may expand beyond the above user's reported power company scam. NEVER PAY ANYONE asking for money over the phone - especially when they demand pre-paid cards, credit card numbers, money orders, or bank transfers. ALWAYS WAIT FOR A DOCUMENTS IN THE MAIL, as ALL debt collectors are required to notify individuals in writing before action is taken. Also - hang up and login to the website to see your bill first...or hang up and call the company that these individuals claim to be. USE YOUR HEAD.
