Was looking for stepson. Stated got our number from some form as an emergency contact. That if stepson did not call within the hour that he would be arrested at his workplace for felony fraud in the state of Wisconsin. I googled this phone number and read the comments which makes this sound like a scam. I called the number back and asked some more questions. This Alex stated that he works for a nationwide lending company for 31 states. That the information on the internet is by people who are mad because they went to jail or had to pay restitution that I could believe what I wanted.

Likely a computer generated call. Its also almost 100% probability that the phone number shown in the caller ID is forged. That makes it useless to report as a violation...BUT, if they do come on the line get the name of the company they represent THEN its reportable as there is follow up info. Turns out the big violation is forging the caller ID, they can be fined $10,000 for each violation. The trick is to ask right away, who they represent (as though you want to know with who you are doing business). Finally, CALL, WRITE, OR E MAIL your reps in CONGRESS if you want the current inaction to change..Also make sure you make an additional complaint on the FCC complaint site.

Caller showed as Private Party on ID Caller with no number. Said from MS and I had been hacked on my computer and he would fix it for me. India accent and said calling from Hollywood, Los Angles, Calif when I asked. He wanted me to go to www.showmypc.com and hit the connect tab. I said no and asked for a number. 213-457-3846 and Alex Smith was provided. In the background sounded like several people talking.

A heavily accented person left a message on my voice-mail saying if I don't pay him $5,000 in loans that I owe he'll have the police pick me up Monday.Scary part is he called my work and left my hole social on the answering machine.

Called friend to say her son was in jail and she needed to put $119 plus $20 (Total $139) on a "My Cash Pay Card" to get her son out of jail.
Woman laughing and talking in the background. When asked about that, the guy indicated "she just wanted out of jail". HA!
Definitely a scam but frightened his mother.
Hang up on this scammer!
