Call from "Credit Card Services" offering to lower interest rate. I pressed one to speak to an operator to have my number removed. Operator answered and asked "Are you interested in lowering your credit card interest rate?" I responded, "No, I would like you to take me off your call list." Operator hung up. Call did not drop, I was HUNG UP ON. Attempted to call back and got the message that the number was invalid.

Yep. I got a call from them also. They use a wide range of different numbers but are all the same low life scammers. A few times in the past, when I had free time, I strung them along... providing false names, false credit card numbers, other false information. I would apologize that I got the number wrong and would give them a number slightly different than they last one, then the next time I would accuse them of writing the number down incorrectly and give them a slightly different number again. Then if they still had not figured out I was messing with them I would say... well lets try a different credit card... it had a higher credit limit than the other one anyway... then the game would start again... eventually they will say something like... why are you wasting my time... I would reply... you started it... remove my number or I will do the same again next time. They have cussed at me sometimes and other times laughed and/or just hung up. They are sub human belly crawlers only out to rip you off so dont feel ashamed by messing with them. Have fun with it.

423-781-0831 from Etowah, TN called and played a recording telling me my credit card was in good standing and they could help lower my rates. You hit 1 if you want them to lower your rates. I hit 1 to tell them this was a business line and we do not have a credit card. I then told them to remove us from the list. They hung up on me. When i tried to call back a recording answered saying this number was no longer in service. Total scammers.

Said they were calling from Vancouver and got upset when I would not provide them my credit card info. They said they needed to verify my card and asked for public info like the expiry date and the type of credit card. They said they would connect me to the bank once verified and I would get a lower interest rate. I hung up.

Unsolicited/Nuisance/Fraud/SCAM/Prank telephone calls are here to stay. Robotic calling technology is readily available and unscrupulous people will exploit it. Get a life and deal with it.

What can you do?

1) Block the calling number. Most cell phone service providers (and some cell phones themselves) have blocking services. Many land line phone providers also have blocking services. Contact your service provider (cell or land-line) to find out how to do it. For a nominal one-time investment you can purchase a simple plug-in add-on device that allows you to manually block numbers to your land-line (Google "call blocker"). Note that these callers don't use a number very long before they switch to another and hit you again. Get used to it. It's an unadvertised perk of having phone service.

2) If you do answer a call and get a real person talking to you, you have established a "business relationship" which takes you out of any Do Not Call Registry restrictions with them….as if they were abiding by those regulations anyway. Engage them in non-committal conversation as long as you possibly can. Act VERY interested. Mess with their minds. Give them phony credit card numbers. Give them fictitious addresses. Make up names. Consume as much of their time as you can. While you are taking up their time they cannot harass someone else, so you are performing a vital civic service. When they do finally hang up, block their number on your phone.

3) DO NOT call them back! DO NOT select the button that is supposed to remove you from their database. These actions only registers your phone number as valid so they can add it to their list to sell to other scammers. Such action also establishes that you have "done business with them before" which takes you off of the Do Not Call Registry for them….as if they would even consider abiding by the law anyway.

4) Telephone communications are regulated by state and federal governments. Carry a card with the phone number of your State Attorney General (who has the responsibility of enforcing telecommunications laws). When you get an unsolicited call tell them that they have caught you on a phone that can't be used for personal use (or they've caught you on your cell) and ask them to call back on a different number. Give them the Attorney General's number, hang up, and immediately block their number on your phone.

This guy called me and offered me a lower interest rate. After I refused to give him my card number he started to swear at me and then told me to f**k off. I laughed and told him that I got him etc. He then called back two times each time threatening to look me up and kick my a*s. I didn't answer his last call and he left a message that he was going to find me and f**k me up, called me a mother f****r ad said that he was going to teach me a lesson. Last words were "I'll be seeing you soon". YES I called the police and they laughed, said that he probably didn't mean it and told me to tell them if I hear from him again.

I just got another from this number. This is crazy. This has gone on for months. Complete fraud and no regards to anyone on a Do Not Call list. Call came in at 11:12am from 302-764-3121, recorded message this is my final notice to low my credit card debt. I pressed 1 for agent and she hung up on me when I asked for her name. At 11:17am today, 5 min later, got a call from 210-306-1267 same recorded message on reducing credit card debit, I pressed I, I the lady for her name, she told me her name is Julie Maddox. I started to tell Julie she just called 5 min ago, yesterday, the day before and so on, she hung up on me. The government is not doing anything to protect those on the Do Not Call list as I have so many complaints.

"Credit Card Services". Yeah, right. Like a bull "services" a cow.
This time it's "Heather". Well-spoken young lady, clear and distinct. Obviously trolling for seniors.
I pressed "1" for a person, got a gentleman with good English and a slight accent: refined, educated and exotic but with no discernible locality. Clear and patient.
This time I was able to hold him for a while, pretending to dig out a credit card from a carrier I don't use, giving a number I've been practicing for a while. (Decoded, it reads: "Financial fraud, (spend in jail) all day, all week and all year, twenty to hell-freezes-over"). He had some way of checking and confirming right away that it wasn't a valid number. I gave it again, with a couple of digits transposed and a few more times until he finally gave up.
A little fun, I suppose, but no progress on stopping these scum-buckets.
Since they're criminals anyway, they won't honor the "Do Not Call" list. Maybe getting a useless "Credit Card" number will make them stop calling me, but I'm not holding my breath.
If the NSA is so all-fired powerful, monitoring phone calls higgledy-piggledy, why can't they recognize a pattern "Heather from Credit Card Services" and at least block the perpetrators' access to U.S. phone services, if not completely fry their equipment and arrest them!
Yeesh! What are we paying our taxes for?
