Received phone call tonight from 213-437-6106. Indian guy said his name was Sean Anderson. Claimed he was from the legal research department of the IRS and US Treasury. Slipped up when he said it was Pacific time. I told him he should be on EST. He weakly responded that he was not at the headquarters of the Treasury, but one of their branch offices. Threatened legal action and I informed him that my husband has been practicing law for 30 years, so would have no trouble retaining an attorney. He hung up on me. TOTAL SCAM!!!!!

Hey got the same call this morning with same background noise heavy Indian accent said his name was "David Foster" 202-821-0055 message from what I could understand was the same as yours.

Andrew Hall a heavily accented man called and left a message with the statement above. I called the number back and spoke with a heavy accented Jason Dean, who asked if I had my lawyer present, and that I was being recorded and that I needed to be very specific in my answers. He never asked for any personal information but claimed I should have received a CP503-Notice in the mail that showed I owed outstanding money from a tax infringement back in 2009. I said I had not received a notice and asked that it be sent again, to which he told me that the local authorities had been notified and would be at my house within the next two hours with the information and would then arrest me at that point. I'm a mother of 2, one who happens to be an infant and I freaked out!!! I simply said thank you for the information and hung up the phone. Called a friend who looked up this info here and directed me here. What the F$$K?!?!? These people need to be stopped!!!

I received a call early this morning from a women. I hung up accidentally then when I called back I got a middle Eastern man who said that I had a legal mater against me regarding my 2009 taxes. He told me that there was a warrant out for my arrest and I would be spending 6 months in jail. I explained to him that I was so confused about the matter and I have never owed the IRS any thing. I am a single mom and to make me think I might be ripped out of my daughters life is the outmost distusing thing I have ever heard of. These people should be arrested

Got the same call; left message yesterday and called back today when I was home. Scam, I'm sure, but the scary part is that they have our address! They said they sent a letter to (our address). Scary! Where do I officially report this?

My wife just got the same call today and we could barely figure out what the woman was saying. You did a great job figuring translating! When I re-listened to the message it was word for word what you wrote. By the way, the word you couldn't figure out was "notification"). Our caller was a woman who said she was Dianna Foster - yeah sure it is - she could barely pronounce it! Number she left was 213-437-6040. Thanks for your post, my wife was very relieved to know it's a scam.

I received the same message the last 2 days. I couldn't understand the message, but I think you got it. My caller was from Alex White and the number to call back was 760-897-3175.

Very hard to understand due to the caller's heavy accent and background noise. He's called twice and left the same message both times. Some vague reference to legal action being taken against me and warning that I should call back to avoid a "legal mess." After researching this online, I'm convinced it's a scam.

Had to listen 5 times to figure out what was being said through the heavy Indian accent. His name was James Howard and the phone number for me to call was 909-237-9679. Called the number and got a message, "this number has not been assigned". Then, decided to "google" Dept of Legal Affairs and thankfully found that all you fine folks have received the exact same message. Thanks to everyone for posting!

I got the same suspicious voice mail message today Thursday December 4, 2014 from an Adam Walker, who claimed to be from the Department of Legal Affairs. He said his number is 760-897-3175.

I'll do my best to try and quote what he said in the voicemail he left:
"This message is intended for (first name) (last name). (first name), this is Jim something or another with Department of Legal Affairs and I was trying to reach you in regard to a very important issue. This is a verbal (indication maybe? not sure what that word was that he said) for you in regard to the (vomonsent action - again, no idea what he said and that's what it sounded like) that having started on your name. My number is 760-600-7163. I'll repeat that. 760-600-7163. If for any reason you are needed to call back I would suggest you getting your attorney to do it for you as (something something) might turn into a legal mess for you. I hope you will take this right and call me right back. This is Jeff something or another with Department of Legal Affairs. Looking forward to speak with you. Until then, have a blessed day. Good bye."
Now this guy had an Indian accent and there was a decent amount of background noise as well. He also called the house phone rather than my cell phone which is odd because I rarely even use the house phone anymore which leads me to believe that it's a scam even further. Why not just contact me directly? Anyways, I tried my best to type exactly what he said in the message giving his accent.

Very hard to understand message - heard the word "Attorney" in there and also he said "Bless you" at the end of the call. Left this number to call back. Sounded like Indian accent. Of course we did not return the call.

I just received a call from this guy and let it go to the answering machine. He passed himself off as a David Cooper with the same phone number you posted 1-209-565-6371. My first thought was WTF and googled dept of legal affairs. It seems these idiots have been doing this for years.

This guy Adam Walker left a message on my home phone. When I called the number, the phone was answered "Department of Legal Affairs, U.S. Treasury Department" and the guy said his name was Brian L. He sounded just like the Adam Walker who left the message. He asked me what number we were called on and I gave my home number. He said he couldn't talk to me because it was my husband they were after. My husband called the number from work and the call did not go thru. He then called from his cell and the same Brian L. answered. (This never happens with government agencies.) Told my husband that the Treasury Department was after him for tax evasion for 2009 for $4,000 and that they were simply notifying him but that an agent would be here to arrest him within 2 hours. Don't know if he was looking for payment or what. Dirty *&#$@%^! I reverse looked up the number and it is a cell phone. 209-565-6371.

A guy with heavy Indian accent called me today he said he was calling from the US Department of Legal affairs. He said he called to inform me that someone is pursuing a case against me. Sounded like a scam as usual, since these people don't have better things to do but try to get money out of people that work hard. I wish the government would shut down phone numbers like this that have complaints against them!!!

My aunt received a voice message 11/19/14 from a woman with a thick accent asking for me saying Pretty much the same message as the one's I've read here and that I have been given a verbal notification and advises that I'm in a legal mess and if I choose not to return his call I should have my retained attorney contact him- he goes on with threats and ends with have a" blessed day".

Wow, I picked up a message from Joanne Darcy stating she is from the department of Legal Affairs. Telephone number 408-543-9125. Also, stating there is an enforcement action and to call back with my attorney If too busy or take the time to call back immediately.
I;m glad I looked into this. These scammers are out of control.

Tells me I Filled my tax incorrectly and have not responded to the notices mailed out by the IRS. The had 3 counts against me.
I have a warrant and will be arrested in 24hrs and sent to jail for six months.
