Reported scammer...If you call, they will say you have a debt owed between $1000-$5000, and ask for a credit card or you will have the cops show up at your door in 30 minutes.
Okay to ignore. congrats...you part of the attempted scammer club.

Received a call today from Leslie Owens. She said she was from the Department of Legal Affairs and indicated this is a verbal notification of action being taken against your name. She suggested we retain an attorney and return her call to 949-945-9311, which we did not do. She had an accent and was somewhat difficult to hear. She suggested it was very important we call her back and ended her call "until then have a blessing."

got a call today too recorded but this time i used the feature to block my number and called back they actually answered the 1st time saying they'd call back in like 20 minutes i went to tell him no and he hung up so i blocked my number again and called back go figure they remembered to put the recording on about legal affairs and to leave a message i left just about the same one they did lol ya i have nothing better to do but call back and give it back

I just got the same call from Jason Le Department of Legal Affairs. I should get an attorney and call them back at 718-569-6648. I was also told to have a blessed day and goodbye. I did not waste my time calling them back or getting an attorney. What a bunch of idiots.

Someone with a very thick accent called me to tell me I have legal actions pending against me. Sounded like a call from overseas. The caller had a thick Indian accent. He was clearly reading from a script. He was calling from "The Department of Legal Affairs". What Department, what affairs. I was laughing my butt off. The script was written poorly and was telling me if I can't call back to have my attorney to call back. Whatever.
Then after threatening me with a huge legal mess, then then told me to have a blessed day. Hmm, I don't think the federal government can mention religion in call threatening you with a lawsuit. Then my friend Brandon had to read what the phone number was I was supposed to call back on as he paused and had to figure out the number.
This was hysterical. They need a better script writer. I will have a blessed day, I needed a good laugh, so my prayers were answered. Thank you Brandon Carter for making me smile.

I received a message on my answer machine from this 'dept of legal affairs' telling me that I should get my lawyer and call back. He said there was some 'issues'and phone number was (786) 226-9053. I'm glad I did not call. But I may contact my lawyer anyways over the incident anyways

There was a women that spoke with an Indian accent saying she was from the Dept of legal affairs and me and my lawyer needed to call her bk immediately at 786-226-9404 but when I called it bk its always busy ! She kept saying there was several legal actions starting against me!! Does anyone know anything about this being a scam.

There was a call on my answering machine from a man with an Indian accent -- Sean Andrews (786-319-9050) saying he was from the Dept. of Legal Affairs and it was urgent that my husband call. Supposedly there was a pending legal action against him. My husband should call immediately or his attorney should call. I never heard of this scam before and was almost sucked in, but decided to wait and check the phone number on the internet. I saw numerous comments on a "Dept. of Legal Affairs" scam. Glad I checked.

Got a call from a woman with a strong indian accent this morning saying pretty much exactly the same as mentioned in these threads. The first call came from an unknown number and after listening to the initial bla bla bla I just hung up. The same woman called back immidiately asking why I hung up on her, this time the call came from 202-370-7167 (checked after the call). I said I didn't want to talk to her since this is bogus and she told me to call the case officer 9or something like that) Jason Dean at 202-370-7167 right away I realized later that this was the same number she was calling from.

I got the EXACT (I mean, to the letter verbatim) message left for me in my answering machine yesterday from "Jeff Thomas." The morons can't even come up with varied scripts as they probably just read what's on the paper in front of them. I heard a lot of chatter in the background on the message....a whole bank of Indian goons (that was the accent as others have noted) must be hard at work trying to get a bite. Just ignore, or if they keep calling back, call your state's AG's office with the complaint and the phone number.

Hi I got the exact same voice message from that Jeff Thomas from the same phone number (34770707629). After we listened to the message, we searched for the key words and the phone number in the Internet and we've found a LOT of reports on these scammers. I'm not even planning on calling back, do not waster your time. I hope these f***ers get caught and put in jail.

I got two messages today from a voice recorder, but the message was still the same. I had legal action against me and law enforcement will be at my door within 72 hours.. I got the exact same call yesterday. Also from "Annie Johnson" and using the same call number (347-650-2160). Knew it had to be a scam. I agree with those who say the callers must use a script. Especialy since they all have the same gramatical errors in their "speech". Would be comical if it weren't so sad how often they are successful.

Got the call yesterday from Annie Johnson. Same BS about this is Dept of Legal Affairs, call me back. Beauty part is that the person she was looking for doesn't reside here. It is definitely a scam. I just got the same message on 11/17/15 at 11:23am. I have Vonage so I get an email with the text of the voice message:
"This message is intended for Denise [last name]. Denise this is Jeff Thomas with the department of legal affairs and I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. This is a verbal notification for you in regards to the enforcement action that has been started on your name. My number is 347-707-7629. I repeat that is 3477077629 if for any reason you are too busy to call back. I would suggest you do you have your retained attorney to do it for you as delaying calling is might end up into a legal mess for you. I hope you would take this right and call me right back. This is Jeff Thomas with the department of legal affairs. Looking forward to speak to you until then have a blessed day. Good-bye"
It sounds like a computer generated voice with a heavy accent just like others noted.

I just received the robo call. thank you for all those before me who wrote on the scam. I called back. group does say represent US Treasury. all comments before me on joke, accents are true. I told Leslie to send the Lawman on over, I am friends with the Sgt in the Sheriffs dept and the Dpt DA. Then we can go find her and her ilk.
