Leaves message on my cell phone. Like the other comment. It is a man with a very slight foreign accent, and stating that this is my final warning and that I must contact him immediately. "Failure for me to contact him and ignoring this will be an intentional second offense and failure to appear before a Grand Jury on a Federal criminal offense. I advise you to cooperate with us, and to help us help you."
He has also called from 707-238-5319 and 619-467-5843 leaves the SAME message.

I got a voice mail on my work line
and I called back and they yelled at me saying you owe this much money for the federal tax, pay now or i'll have you arrested. IRS doesn't operate like that. Such a lie and a scam. I talk to a local police he even told me its a scam don't fall for it.

Threatened to have agents come to my house today. Said everything he said to everyone else above. Said I was evading the IRS. Said he is sending detectives to my house today to lock me up for 1 year and no bail and said the irs has nothing to do with this anymore.
What the hell is going on? The IRS doesnt operate like this.

I received the exact same call.
I contacted a friend who is an federal prosecutor with the US Justice Dept. They told me it was probably a scam and definitely don't call that number. They said that type of correspondence always takes place with a formal letter and a follow up personal visit not with a phone call.

The recorded message is from a man with a pronounced Indian accent. The recorded message states that (1) the caller's name is Steve Martin, (2) he is with the U.S. Treasury Department, (3) the recipient of the call must call him at 559-479-5570, (4) any attempt to ignore the call would be a second federal offense, and (5) the recipient must call him immediately.

From US Treasury..some kind of bs voice mail stating urgency and shouldn't be ignored. Called twice and left voice mail each time. I called, told him to get me off his spam list. He hangs up on me. I called again and with a more stern voice, told him to get me off his spam lists. He came back saying something cocky, so I spelled SPAM to him. He hung up on me. I am sorry, but no one with the name of Steve Martin would have a thick foreign Indian accent. If he calls again, I will be calling the US Treasury to let known of a fraudulent act being done in their name!
