I just received the same message from 202-506-9983. When I called the number (anonymously), there was a heavy accent stating "your call forward to voicemail. leave message." What on Earth??!!

Sounded like a robo call. Did not ask to speak to a particular person. I have not received any written communication from the IRS and have no idea what this could be about. Very suspicious. Is it someone trying to elicit personal information? Has anyone else received such a call?

They Called me in May I blocked my # and called them back left the same name as other post mention Heather Grey as the other person mentioned hard to understand. A man with heavy Indian accent answered advised was returning a call to Heather Gram knowing full well the IRS does not contact you by phone they contact you by mail. This man instantly started berating me don't you understand english yelling @ me. At that point I advised him that was turning this into the police and the FTC which I did I suggest that when you get these you turn it into the FTC 877-382-4357. Tonight I returned home from work and they had called my phone twice using the same name Heather Grey same scam. I turned them into the FTC again will update my local police dept as well. Do not fall victim to these nasty id thieves and scam artist. Report them if enough people turn them in there is a better chance of making them stop

Someone using the number 202 506 9563 threatened my wife saying they would come to our home and arrest her if she didn't pay them $35,000. They claimed to be agents of the IRS. We reported the issue to the FBI, the Treasury Dept., and to the FTC. We also called our local police who told us to call 911 should anyone approach our home following this call. These bozos will be met with deadly force by local law enforcement if they come anywhere near our home.

I'm a IRS Revenue Agent and I know for a fact the IRS don't operate in this manner by calling individuals to inform them they are in trouble and we need their info in order to resolve the issue. Never the less my 74 yr mother got a call from this number yesterday and today she called me to inform me of this call. Luckly we had this talk before and she knew better not to give out her information. People we need to have this talk with our elderly just as we do with our children on other topics because the elderly tend to be trustING and believe others. Long story short I did contact the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (http://www.treasury.gov/tigta/) and reported the incident. There's a tidal wave of fraud using Internet phones has hit the United States. Millions of dollars already have been stolen by criminals impersonating federal officers from the IRS while hiding in countries like India and Pakistan, where most of the calls originate. Be on guard and write to your congressman only they can enact laws that will counter attack this wave of scams.

Called and left my mother A Message, call back for their will be blood shed. I called he said she owes us money i said for what he said she did not pay the IRS i said guy get a grip she pays all the time. He said i know but she didnt pay this time. He started stating her information and said see i know her. I said great! he said dont talk to me like that. I said I will call my accountant and have her call u. He said dont hang up if you do i will send the police i have a warrent for her arrest, he said I could take payment over the phone. I said good luck wth that! We will be awaiting

Left a msg on home phone that they were calling from legal dept of IRS. When I phoned back they said an affidavit had been filed with the local county sheriff (which I called) for arrest if I did not take care of tax fraud. Claimed there were unpaid taxes from an "audit of my taxes between 2008-2012". Claimed sent two certified letters on 2/15 and 3/15 that were returned. This was final warning to work out prior to my arrest TODAY. I requested to speak to supervisor or someone that spoke English - they got irritated. I asked who I needed to contact at sheriff's office and they said to call back the same number (LOL!) and ask for Mr. William Rece Badge #89681. So I did...same Indian accent answered and pretended to be from sheriff's office. I'm guessing they are trying to get information to steal your identity or your money - BEWARE!! Call your local sheriff's office if you are in doubt to confirm. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION! These people need to be shot!
